Easy Easter Crafts for Preschoolers

Easy Easter Crafts for Preschoolers | WomanhoodWithPurpose.com and LearningWIthMom.org

(Photo credit)Easter is coming and that means it’s time for crafts! :)Children love making things, especially Preschoolers, so why not take advantage of this time of year to do some easy and fun activities? (Good for Toddlers, too!)It is important to choose crafts that are easy and fast. Children this age do not have long attention spans, and it is difficult to keep their interest. Sometimes crafts need to be done in stages. If that’s the case, try breaking up the craft into short sessions until it’s finished.Supplies can be found anywhere, such as a dollar store, or Michael’s, or Target. Here are Read more [...]

Family Devotions with Young Children

daily devotions WwP

About 8 or 9 years ago, I was attending a Bible study, and one of the older women mentioned the need to do devotions with your kids. I agreed that it was necessary, and within days I had begun with my two boys. They were 1 and 3 at the time. We have continued our week day daily devotion time almost daily ever since. And we’ve added two more to the head count. My kids are now 11, 10, 6, and 2.When do we hold the devotional time? What does devotions with little kids look like? How do we make it work? Why is it a good thing?-When? We start our devotional time at 8:30 each morning. The kids have gotten Read more [...]

My Greatest Treasure!

My Greatest Treasure!

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.  Matthew 6:21 My husband and I raised one absolutely, amazing daughter.  She is now 32 and raising her own children, currently three and five years old. As a mother I was, and am, very blessed.  My daughter and I never went through those terrible teen years.  We worked at communication.  That’s not to say that there weren’t some difficult moments, but that is about what they were, moments.  When I would sense the tension in our communication, we would sit down and work it out.  If I had spiritual feelings or promptings about Read more [...]

Stop holding on and just be held

Stop holding on and just be held

Photo credit: Dean Ward by God’s Girl In early March I received a blog update from a sweet lady in the United States: “I don’t know about you but Spring has sprung here in the South!” If you live in the northern States, Canada, England or many other places you might not be feeling so sunny. I know it’s wrong to covet, but feeling envious of places where March means green. Without exaggeration, spring comes in May where I live. It snows until the end of April, with the flakes having begun their descent around end of October. It is not until late May/early June that flowers Read more [...]

Do you know if your child is being bullied?

children's anti-bullying book

This post is an introduction to a mini-series looking at bullying. To receive notification of the second part, please subscribe to Womanhood with Purpose newsletter. The subject of bullying isn’t easy. Sometimes it can feel easier to push it out of your mind, but today I invite you to think about it. This subject isn’t just for parents, as it affects each one of us. As children of God, as the body of Christ, I believe it’s our responsibility to look at how we can be there for one another, not only for children but also for adults. Fear, control, and Bullying is talked about Read more [...]

Relentless Pursuit

Relentless Pursuit

My husband often calls me God’s special child…sounds like love, right? The reason he says that is because he is so amazed at how often God sends me encouragement. I am guilty of being easily disheartened. In the past a single off hand comment could send me spiralling down a dark tunnel of doubt and insecurity. But I have gotten much better at not letting irrelevant voices distract me, and much of this growth is due to God’s constant guidance and reassurance. Even I wasn’t aware of just how faithful God had been in my life until last night when my husband said, “I’m not sure if I’m Read more [...]

How Dollar Store Books are Teaching My Kids the Gospel

How Dollar Store Books are Teaching My Kids About the Gospel

I love good, quality children’s books. I love classic, timeless stories as well as the appeal of the newer authors who write fun, engaging stories. As a former elementary school teacher I see the value in having plenty of books available to our children as they grow and develop. Books to teach them about friendship, family, fantasy, play and a host of other topics, but most importantly our kids need plenty of books that also teach them about God. Scripture is very clear about our role as believing parents to teach our children the basic tenants of our faith and to impress the Word on their hearts, Read more [...]

Dear God, Please Help Me Not Mess Up My Kids

Dear God

I read this somewhere the other day and it pulled something in my heart: The way we speak to our children becomes their inner voice. That was profound to me. And it got me wondering. What words have I spoken to my children that I wish I could take back? What words have I spoken to my children that I hope sunk in? What words have I spoken to my children that were not 100% truth. Have I ever let a less than kind word fly when my last nerve has been danced on? Uh oh. I took this heart issue to God one night in prayer. I asked Him to reveal to me where I had been wrong. Where I had messed up. Read more [...]

A Child Can Help In Housework!

A Child can Help in Housework

My husband and I shared in the housework chores around the house before he passed away. To be really honest, Don did a lot of the deep cleaning. I’m just not much of a cleaner. I really depended on him a lot. I didn’t realize how much he really did around the house until he was gone. Isn’t that the way it goes though. I miss him in so many ways, I see new and different ways each day though. Gracie was 10 years old when Don passed away. She was always responsible for keeping her room picked up and that was about it. We did everything else. Don honestly even took care of the deep cleaning of her Read more [...]

Princes and Toads and Troubles, Oh My!

Princes and Toads

Would you believe that when I was 29, I almost married some dude … because I was 29, and didn’t want to be single at 30!  I was obsessed with finding “Mr. Right” without knowing what was right or wrong.  At that stage, I wasn’t even sure if God existed, although I occasionally asked Him to send me a guy, any guy.  I thought becoming a “Mrs.” meant an instant and magical change of my very essence.  Without the gory details, let’s just say that the older I got, the more desperate and less discerning I became.  But when the Lord saved me at age 38, my prayers changed.  I knew Read more [...]

8 Simple Ways To Get Rid Of Oily Skin

8 Simple Ways To Get Rid Of Oily Skin

Oily skin can be a real menace. It leads to various skin problems like acne, pimples and blemishes. This happens due to the overproduction of sebum, a waxy substance that naturally conditions the skin. Before treating oily skin, it is important to address its root cause. It is mostly caused due to unhealthy eating habits, stress and lack of sleep. Pregnancy, menopause and intake of birth control pills can also increase the skin’s sebum production. Don’t worry! In most cases, oily skin can be easily treated at home. Follow a skin care routine and a healthy diet to tackle this skin menace and Read more [...]

Overlook the Little Things

Overlook the Little Things

Proverbs 19:11 says, “A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is his glory to overlook an offense” (NIV). In our homes, we often do the opposite: We notice everything that bothers us. And, whether it is through criticism, nagging, pouting, reminding, or nitpicking, we make sure the other person knows we are upset. This doesn’t help your relationships. It makes the other person feel unloved, unaccepted, and incompetent. It pushes the person away from you and may even make the person feel guarded and unsafe around you. It makes the other person feel negatively about you and as a result, Read more [...]
